Sheriff's Office welcomes new deputies, dispatchers
Last week the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office swore in 22 new deputies, and 10 new 9-1-1 dispatchers started the job.
“These additions reflect the department’s continued commitment to strengthening public safety and serving the residents of Osceola County with professionalism and integrity,” a Sheriff’s Office release noted. “These dispatchers are the first link between the citizens of Osceola County and the deputies keeping our community safe. The support staff of civilians within our agency is crucial to the mission.”
Sheriff Christopher A. Blackmon welcomed the new hires during a swearing-in ceremony held at the Osceola Sheriff ’s Office.
“We are excited to welcome this group of dedicated individuals to our team,” he said. “The Osceola County Sheriff’s office continues to prioritize recruitment of qualified and community-oriented professionals as part of our mission to ensure the safety and well-being of our visitors and residents.”
Sen. Arrington to host office hours with local officials
State Sen. Kristen Arrington (D-Kissimmee) will host remote office hours in September in partnership with local leaders, St. Cloud City Council member Jennifer Paul and state Rep. Leonard Spencer.
In order to provide residents across Osceola County with personalized help with state-related concerns, including Medicaid, housing, SNAP, unemployment, and consumer services.
“These office hours provide a direct opportunity for our constituents to connect with our office, share their concerns, and receive help navigating state services,” Arrington said. “I’m grateful to Councilwoman Jennifer Paul and Representative Leonard Spencer for partnering with us to make government more accessible to the people of Osceola County.”
The dates and locations are: Tuesday, Sept. 9, 12-2 p.m., St. Cloud Community Center, partnering with City Council member Paul; Thursday, Sept. 25, 2-4:30 p.m., West Osceola Branch Library, in partnership with State Representative Leonard Spencer.
