ST. CLOUD NEWS — Evening checklist includes capybaras, a movie in the park, and more

Join Habitat Orlando and Osceola County for a Disaster Preparedness and Home Insurance Workshop to be held at Cannery Park (901 Virginia Ave.) on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon. This free event allows you to learn from the experts about how to prepare for disasters with Osceola County’s Office for Emergency Management. Learn how to file a claim with your home insurance agent and insure your home is disaster ready with tips from a licensed Home Inspector. Hear about how you apply for Habitat Orlando and Osceola’s Habitat Inspects Program, which offers a free mitigation inspection and/or 4-point inspection (a $200 value) for those who qualify that can reduce your home insurance costs. As the sun begins to set, Amazing Animals Preserve comes to life! Capybaras at Sunset, presented by Amazing Animals, is a magical evening filled with animal encounters. A limited number of guests begin the evening with a drink during check-in and the chance to mingle with some animal ambassadors. This event will be held on Saturdays, Aug. 30, Sept. 20 and 27 and Oct. 18 and 25 from 5-6:30 p.m. on all dates. The Preserve is located at 4235 Rambler Ave.

 

Make plans to attend Movie at the Park on Friday, Sept. 5 at 7:45 p.m. at Hopkins Park, The free movie will be Mufasa The Lion King. Bring your chairs and blanket and enjoy this fun Movie in the Park.

 

The City of St. Cloud’s Toddler Sports Tuesday Program begins Sept. 9. Every Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the St. Cloud Civic Center, toddlers ages 2-4 will be introduced each week to a new sport – basketball, soccer, cheerleading or t-ball. A neat twist to the Fall Market is monthly themes. Vendors are encouraged to dress - in theme: Sept 24: Enchanted Market; October 29: Arts on the Avenue; November 19: Fall Market, and December 17: Christmas/Holiday Market. The cost for a single space is $100 and an oversize space is $175.
