October has come to be the time a few things arrive in Osceola County: kinder fall weather (don’t snicker), pumpkin spice everything, the spirit of Halloween, and, of late … saddle bronc and bull riding and barrel racing on the dirt of the Silver Spurs Arena.
Meet new Silver Spurs Rodeo Big Boss Kaye Whaley and see some top rodeo action at the Silver Spurs Arena on Oct. 4 at the annual Boots, Bulls & Barrels rodeo event. The ridin’ starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $15 and are available for purchase at www.SilverSpursRodeo.com. The Queens of the rodeo Court will also be there, including newlycrowned Miss Silver Spurs Jasmine Livingston, Junior Miss Silver Spurs Teagan Frey and Little Miss Silver Spurs Kinlee Rae Anuez.
This event is a unique opportunity for families to watch real cowboys and cowgirls compete in dirt-pounding events, all while supporting the next generation of Osceola County students. . Through events like these, the Club has donated over $55,000 in scholarships for graduating high school seniors in Osceola County. Since 2014, these scholarships, provided in partnership with the Education Foundation of Osceola County, celebrate student success as they reach their educational goals.
“As a teacher in the School District of Osceola County, I see firsthand how much of an impact these scholarships can make,” said Whaley, who will be the fourth “Lady Boss” in Silver Spurs history. “It’s not just about supporting students financially; it’s about showing them that their community believes in their future. Every ticket purchased helps us open doors for local graduates.”
This rodeo is part of Osceola County’s rodeo and ranching tradition passed down for generations. The event celebrates the impressive stock raised here by Silver Spurs Club members, a legacy that has remained strong in the Club’s history for over 80 years.
