Osceola School District launches bus system

Just in time for school bells ringing—and school buses rolling—MyReaXiumApp will be the new digital bus rider management system being implemented this school year across the Osceola County School District.

The district’s transportation department noted that previous software like Synovia and Here Comes the Bus will no longer be available for student scanning and monitoring.

This upgraded system will also boost safety, communication, and peace of mind for families and staff, the School District noted in a social media post.

The app was produced by Reaxium, a corporation that develops highly specialized cloud-based solutions under a managed service model, whose mission is to “Empower communities to better serve people.”

The SDOC said parents would receive an email invitation to access MyReaXiumApp this week. Reaxium said if you have not received an email, you can still get on board by requesting a code, then click the app’s icon on your phone to launch the app and finish registering by choosing a subscription plan that fits your family member’s needs.

(Note to parents: If you haven’t received the email, check Spam or Junk folders for a message with the subject line: You’ve been invited to the MyReaXiumApp!)

According to Reaxium, districts will have access to real-time ridership and bus information to oversee their fleet and transportation of their children and drivers will have a device to guide them during their trip to notify them of the right stop and student roster.

“Each student is issued a badge with RFID technology and/or a printed barcode,” Reaxium said. “It is important because, with their badge, they will be able to check in and out when boarding and leaving the bus. You will have access to your particular student and assigned bus information and real-time updates through MyReaXiumApp.”

Community Relations Specialist for school operations Joanna Goodhue said the School District did a pilot program over the summer to test the MyReaXiumApp by installing tablets and the GPS system into the busses, and scanning the children in summer programs who used transportation when boarding and departing the bus.

“I’m looking forward for next week when we get everyone on the bus,” Goodhue said.

Goodhue said all of the busses have been outfitted with the tablets.

“We’ve trained all of our drivers an everyone in transportation for how it works, so it should be very convenient for everyone involved,” she said.

Each student’s regular school ID has a barcode, and that barcode is already in the focus system to be compatible with MyReaXiumApp.

“If all goes well, and we assume it will, that this will be an ongoing basis, and this will just be the process that we use from here on out.”

The Reaxium app is available for download on Google Play and in the Apple app store.
