Valencia College awarded Disney grant to support students battling food insecurity Valencia College has reported Walt Disney World has awarded the school a $100,000 grant for its VCentials initiative that addresses student food insecurity.
VCentials provides students with free access to a market with healthy food and other essential items Students have visited the markets more than 50,000 times since VCentials was launched in 2023, the school said. Each campus features a VCential location.
“We’ve all experienced how difficult it is to concentrate when we’re hungry,” said Dr. Kathleen Plinske, president of Valencia College. “This generous donation from Walt Disney World will ensure that more students can focus on their education without the burden of food insecurity.”
The grant funds will be used to stock the markets with food like fresh produce, refrigerated items, canned goods, snacks and other staples. This is Disney’s second donation to VCentials, following a $50,000 contribution in 2023 for food and operational expenses.
Donations can be made online at Valencia.org/donate and selecting “VCentials” under “Designation” to make a financial contribution.

The founders believed that a democratic form of government depended on the free exchange of news, ideas and opinions, and a Colonial postal system was formed. The ratification of the Constitution in 1788 gave Congress the power “to establish Post Offices and post roads.” The Postal Service is now one of the largest employers for veterans, with nearly 70,000 employed today.
