With school bells set to ring in just a month—sorry students, keep soaking up that summer sun and sleep!—mid-July is the perfect time for parents to tackle that back-to-school supply list.

July 26, Early Learning Coalition:
From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Early Learning Coalition CEO Amanda Kelkenberg will host a ribbon cutting for its newest LearningHub at Advent Health at 2488 Partin Settlement Road in Kissimmee.
After the ribbon cutting, parents and children can head to the local vendors who will pass out school supplies, books, and backpacks, according to the ELC’s Facebook post on the event.
“Explore all the fun learning it has to offer,” said the post. “Then visit with our local vendors as they pass out FREE back-to-school goodies. Anything from books, backpacks, supplies, and more!”
July 26, AVOS & Kingdom Life:
The organization will hold its 4th annual Back to School event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free backpacks and supplies available while supplies last. (One backpack per household; for more than one the child must be present). AVOS is located at 1901 S. Poinciana Blvd. For more information call 407-519-0164.
July 26, Kissimmee Back to School Jam:
Come to the Chambers Park Community Center for the Back-to-School Jam from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free family-friendly event offers back-to-school supplies for all ages, while supplies last, while enjoying a morning of community connection. July 27, Verizon “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway”:
In an effort to ease the financial burden for families heading into another school year, area Verizon Wireless stores will be giving away hundreds of free backpacks beginning at 1 p.m. Any leftover backpacks will be donated to local schools of each store’s choice.
In Osceola County, those locations are 3234 Margaritaville Blvd. in Kissimmee and 4879 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy. in St. Cloud.
July 30, Back To School Bash:
The Salvation Army of Osceola County is partnering with County Commissioners Peggy Choudhry and Viviana Janer for a Back to School Bash from 10 a.m. to noon at the Osceola Heritage Park.
“We’re proud to serve alongside incredible partners to help local students start the school year strong,” said The Salvation Army of Osceola County.
According a Salvation Army Facebook post, this event is for Osceola County families only, and registration is required by scanning its flyer. Students ages 5-17 must be present to receive their free backpacks and school supplies.
