8 from Osceola qualify for National Senior Games

A total of 713 Florida Senior Games athletes will compete at the 2025 National Senior Games, in Des Moines, Iowa, July 24-August 4. The total number of Florida athletes is the highest total of any state competing in the 2025 National Senior Games.

Among them are eight athletes from Osceola County.

That notable list includes Celebration swimmer Linda Fulton, a former Florida Senior Games Athlete of the year. She has qualified to compete in the 50-meter freestyle, backstroke and butterfly, the 100 back, 200 back and 200 freestyle in the 70-74 age group.

Poinciana’s Susan Urbach will swim the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke among those ages 65-69.

Nationally-ranked pickleball player Erica Gonzalez (60-64) will play in the women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles. Kissimmee’s Michael Prisby (men’s singles and doubles, 55-59), Steve Harrison (men’s doubles, 55-59) and Kim Vieira and Poinciana’ Bill Jackson (men’s doubles, 65-69) also earned a Nationals spot in that sport.

Rounding out the Osceola contingent is Kissimmee’s Hisae Senko, who will play singles, doubles and mixed doubles in age 60-64 table tennis.

The Villages leads all U.S. cities with 140 athletes traveling to Iowa for the competition.
