Kissimmee Police make arrest in May 10 homicide

The Kissimmee Police Department announced Thursday night it had made an arrest in connection with a May 10 homicide that occurred at a North Central Avenue Apartment Complex.

Melvin Rafael Pardo-Acevedo, 33, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm. KPD reports he was taken into custody with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Officers responded to a call for service reporting multiple gunshots just after noon on May 10 in the area of the Park on Central apartments and discovered the victim, identified as Jorge Diaz Flores, 25, who suffered from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators concluded the victim been involved in a verbal dispute that escalated. Officers say Pardo-Acevedo fired a firearm during the dispute, leading to the victim’s death.
