Monday, April 28 is National Superhero Day, a day dedicated to honoring superheroes, both real and fictional — a worthwhile cause, no matter who your favorite hero is.
This day was founded by Marvel Comics in 1995 to honor the people that made a positive impact on our lives. According to National Today, the first superhero, the Phantom, was created in 1936 in a U.S. newspaper, and his creation sparked the inspiration for hundreds of heroes today.
St. Cloud residents are putting on their capes and costumes to celebrate their favorite superheroes. Gym members at Fitness CF St. Cloud are urged to dressed up at their favorite superhero on April 28, according to the gym’s post on Facebook.
“Dress up as your favorite superhero and join us for a fun-filled day,” said the post. “Who will you be?”
But dressing up as your favorite hero isn’t the only way to spend the day. According to the National Day Calendar, friends and families can take their heroes to lunch and thank them for all that they have done, share what you think makes a hero, celebrate by posting about who is your hero, and check out their National Day Classroom for projects to #CelebrateEveryDay!
National Today stated that National Superhero Day recognizes those who we look up to every day.
“No matter if they wear masks, capes, scrubs, or uniforms, everyone has someone they think of as a superhero,” said National Today. “This national day began and grew so that everyone’s role models could get a well-deserved shout-out for whatever hard work they do.”
