FHP investigating two overnight fatal crashes, including a BVL hit-and-run

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a pair of fatal crashes that occurred overnight into early Friday morning.

One was a hit and run in Buenaventura Lakes on at Osceola Parkway and Buenaventura Boulevard at 1:20 a.m. Per FHP's report, an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on Buenaventura when a 42-year-old Kissimmee man crossing westbound was struck. The vehicle that struck him, possibly a white Acura MDX, reportedly fled the scene northbound.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

The vehicle in question should have front end damage. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS, as the crash remains under investigation.

The other Osceola County fatality occurred just before 1 a.m. on westbound Interstate 4 between State Road 429 and ChampionsGate. Troopers say, when a Jeep driven by a Davenport woman clipped the Toyota Scion driven by a 41-year-old Lakeland man while changing lanes.

The crash caused the Jeep to rotate and hit the guardrail and the Toyota to hit the back of a construction truck, occupied by a 33-year-old St. Cloud man, parked on the shoulder. The Davenport woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but the Toyota driver was pronounced dead on scene. The construction worker was unhurt, FHP said.

The incident caused a roadblock in the center two lanes of I-4 in the area, an active construction zone, that was not cleared until about 9 a.m. as troopers investigated.
