Chisholm boat ramp closing for construction
The public boat ramp at Chisholm Park will close on Monday, April 28, and remain closed while crews build improvements to the boat ramp, the City of St. Cloud announced Tuesday.
A construction fence will be erected this week, with a 20foot gate that will remain open for boaters until the closure. Construction is scheduled to be completed before the July 4th holiday, the city said.
The construction includes upgrading the area approaching the boat ramp, installing new safety railings and building an updated boat ramp that offers improved water access.
“These improvements will dramatically enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of the waterfront area, while prioritizing boater safety,” a city release said, also noting the timing makes it possible for completion before the Fourth, when the Lakefront boat ramp will be closed for the fireworks show.
Osceola County adds Saturday inspections, web-based permitting
This week, Osceola County announced the debut of Saturday property inspection appointments and the launch of a new web-based permit notification system.
Beginning this Saturday (April 26), inspection appointments may be made between 8 a.m. and noon, for the same cost as weekday inspections.
Residents seeking a Saturday inspection may request them online at https://permits.osceola.org/CitizenAccess/Default.aspx. Once your appointment date and time is confirmed, an inspector from Osceola’s Office of Building & Safety will greet you at your home to perform the inspection.

“Our Office of Building & Safety protects the health and wellbeing of the public by enforcing building codes and technical standards, ensuring that Osceola grows safely and responsibly,” said Osceola County Board of County Commissioners Chairwoman Viviana Janer. “Our mission is to provide the best possible service to our residents and builders.”
Also, the county has launched the Web-Based Permit Notification System, designed to enhance communication with citizens regarding local developments.
The system’s enhancements include real-time notifications of updates about nearby developments via text message, email, or phone call; customized alerts based on specific addresses or proximity to locations of interest; access to critical information, including permit numbers, meeting dates, and project descriptions; and the ability to opt in to a one through five-mile radius ensuring broader but still local awareness.
The system uses Osceola County’s GIS platform to provide timely and relevant information about public meetings and permitting activities, county officials said.
