While AAA reported Florida gas prices declined 11 cents last week to a state average of $3.00 per gallon Sunday -- the lowest daily average price since March 24, it gave little insight into what the next week or so holds.
Prices at the pump have been through a myriad of rises and falls in 2025, tied to crude oil prices, which have also been on a roller coaster due to supply and demand from travel periods like Spring Break, and a recent fall tied to the Trump administration's tariffs. AAA did note Monday morning the U.S. price of crude rose by a little more than $3 per gallon (5%) last week, and gasoline futures increased 10 cents. That may harken an increase this week.
"An 11-cent drop may not turn heads, but every little bit adds up for drivers navigating the road and their budgets," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "Unfortunately, the downward trend may not continue much longer. Oil prices moved higher last week after the U.S. imposed sanctions on Iranian oil."
The Osceola County average of $3.00 and Orange County average of $2.996 mimic the $3 state average (which is lower than the $3.15 national average). To show the roller coaster, the local average is down about 12 cents from a week ago, but nearly the same as a month ago. (But it is 56 cents lower than this time last year!)
Gas prices are worth keeping an eye on as the summer driving season returns in a little over a month.
