St. Cloud earns financial excellence, project manager earns certification

The City of St. Cloud reports it earned the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the 26th consecutive year, According to the GFOA, the City’s report has been judged by an impartial panel “to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.”

The city says the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“I am proud of our Finance Department team, under the leadership of Finance Director Jeff Cooper, for receiving this award, and specifically for Suzette Cover, Gloria Emanuel, and Donna Cooley, whose work was key to attaining this honor again this year,” said City Manager Veronica Miller. “The award, and the fact that we’ve won it for 26 consecutive years, truly shows our commitment to fiscal transparency and accountability with tax dollars.”

Also, Strategic Initiatives Project Manager David Bridle earned the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, a highly respected credential in project management, from the Project Management Institute.

The PMP certification is indicating that the recipient has the experience, education, and skills needed to effectively lead and manage projects.

“Achieving this prestigious certification demonstrates David’s commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth that ultimately benefits the city and its residents,” said Strategic Initiatives Administrator Abismael Abreu. “It also demonstrates that he is prepared to handle complex projects and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.”

Bridle has worked for the city since 2021.
