Sandals, an umbrella, a sweater or hoodie — you'll get use of all of them this week thanks to Mother Nature's "wacky weather wheel" this week.
Today (Wednesday) will feature a warm, albeit it cloudy, afternoon, with temperatures around Osceola easily reaching the low 80s. Then a cold front, a piece of the feature that will bring significant snow and very cold temps to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, will move through just in time for the afternoon drive time. Expect rain and some possible strong storms between 4-7 p.m.
The National Weather Service out of Melbourne has picked up on this.
"A band of rain is then forecast to move into Lake County and through the I-4 corridor from mid to late afternoon, and then weaken and break up as it shifts farther east to southeast across the area through this evening," the NWS reported in a Hazardous Weather Outlook Wednesday morning. "Embedded isolated thunderstorms will be possible with this activity, but overall chance for lightning remains low, around 10-20 percent. Main threat from any storms that can develop will be gusty winds up to 40 mph, occasional cloud to ground lightning strikes and heavy downpours."
Temperatures will stay in the 60s on Thursday, will increasing sun through the day ... and then, the heavy chill Thursday night into Friday morning.
"A fresh northerly breeze will persist into late week behind the cold front ... below normal temperatures are forecast into late week behind the cold front, with the coldest temperatures forecast into Thursday night," the NWS said. "Lows will fall into the mid to upper 30s northwest of I-4 and into the 40s across much of the rest of east central Florida. Northerly winds around 5 to 10 mph will also produce wind chill values as low as the 30s to low 40s across much of the area early Friday morning."
Highs are expected around 65 on Friday and then the mid-70s through the week, with those pleasant temps expected into the first part of next week. The temperature isn't expected to reach 80 within the next 10 days ... but don't worry, as late spring and June-type weather will be here before we know it.
Stay weather aware, everyone!
