ST. CLOUD NEWS — Saturday to be busy in and around town

Saturday is poised to be a busy day in St. Cloud.

Aside from the usual Farmer’s Market near downtown, the 4th annual Run for the Cherubs 5K which benefits the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, takes place at the Lakefront at 8 a.m. 100% of raised proceeds will benefit the Hospital. Registration fee is $35 for ages 17+ and $25 for ages 4-17. Early packet pick-up will be on Friday, Jan. 31st from 4 p.m. until dusk at Lakefront Park. A Four Chaplains Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. at American Legion Post 80 (1019 Pennsylvania Ave.) The Four Chaplains are World War II chaplains who died rescuing civilian and military personnel, giving up their own life jackets when supplies ran out as the American troop ship SS Dorchester sank on Feb. 3, 1943. The New Year, New Me Vision Board Workshop takes place on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Hopkins Park, (620 E. 17th St.) Kickstart 2025 by participating in this inspiring workshop. Crafting vision hopes in hopes to help you visualize and achieve your 2025 goals. Scissors, glue and magazines will be provided. Bring your own items to make your board uniquely yours. This event is presented by the City of St. Cloud.

The Pine Lily Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will host a Lake Lizzie Southside Hike on Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m. The group will be scoping out the area for possible future invasive plant removal activities. Wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water Meet at 6495 Old Melbourne Hwy.

 

Narcoossee History presents the Mosquito County Festival 2025 on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This family-friendly event will be a day of fun, learning and community spirit. Mosquito County is the historic name of an early County that once encompassed most of eastern Florida. This large region included what is now the counties of Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Marion, Martin, Seminole, Osceola, Orange, Lake, Polk and Palm Beach.

At the Festival, you will have a chance to explore this history through educational exhibits and activities for all ages. There will be art and craft vendors, kids’ activities, inflatables, food and drink and baked goods.

This free event will be held at Narcoossee Elementary School, 2690 N. Narcoossee Road.

All proceeds help preserve the 1886 School House.

 

The City of St. Cloud presents their Annual Father-Daughter Dance on Saturday, Feb. 15th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Marina Banquet Hall, 1104 Lakeshore Blvd. The fee is $10. This year’s theme is Emerald City. This event sells out quickly. Register at https://bit.ly/Father-Daughter-Dance-2025.
