AAA's Tow to Go available through the New Year holiday

Longstanding program helps keep impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel

From helping stranded motorists to keeping impaired drivers off the road this holiday season, AAA The Auto Club Group will activate its Tow to Go program in Florida starting Tuesday and through next week's New Year's holiday.

It will be in effect from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24 through 6 a.m. Thursday Jan. 2.

“If you’re faced with the decision of driving impaired, put down those keys and pick up the phone to call Tow to Go,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “AAA will then send a truck to take you and your vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.”

The Auto Club Group has provided the Tow to Go program for more than 25 years. Since its inception, Tow to Go has removed more than 30,000 impaired drivers from the roadway. While you don't want to be one of them, AAA doesn't want you to be a statistic either, so treat Tow to Go as a last resort. Plan for a safe ride home by identifying a designated driver or ride sharing service before you party.

Here's how it works: Tow to Go is free and available to AAA members and nonmembers. It’s a confidential local ride for one person and their vehicle to a safe location. And it may not be available in some rural areas, or in severe weather.

To call for the service, call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246 for a confidential local ride for one person and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius. Appointments cannot be scheduled in advance to use Tow to Go. It is designed as a safety net for those that did not plan ahead.

Here's to a safe Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa, end to 2024 and start of 2025.
