The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports that Oak Street in Kissimmee will be closed starting Friday (Oct. 18) at 9 p.m. so that SunRail can make railroad improvements at the crossing just east of Main Street.
The closure is scheduled until to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, Oak Street will be closed in both directions between Lawrence Silas Boulevard and Royal Street.
Those heading westbound can use U.S. Highway 192 to avoid the closure, or turn left from Oak onto Lawrence Silas, turn right on Neptune and right on Main.
Eastbound Oak Street traffic can turn left on Main up to 192, or right on Main to Neptune to Silas to get around the closure.
There will be detours on sidewalks as well that pedestrians should follow to direct foot traffic.
