POINCIANA NEWS — Rain pushed APV Back to School bash back a week

This rain delay didn’t mean a rain cancellation! Last Saturday’s celebration will now be this Saturday’s celebration.

The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) celebrates the new school year with their Back-To-School Bash on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Lawn (445 Marigold Ave.) This free event is open to students in grades K-12 to 12. Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. The Bash will also have a DJ dance party, games, craft station, vendors and food trucks. The PCLC Bookmobile will also be at the event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lake Marion Creek Middle School, 3055 Lake Marion Creek Rd., will have a Back-To-School Bash on Sunday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be 12 barbers on-site offering free haircuts. In addition, there will be free school supplies, free food and a bounce house.

Iglesia Casa de Victoria (601 Walnut St.) will hold a Back-To-School Bash on Sunday, Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. Sponsored by Soni Family Practices, PLLC and Simply Healthcare. Immerse in a murder mystery game that allows you to become a cold case detective. Unsolved Case Files will be presented at the Poinciana Library on Friday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Registration is required. To register, call 407742-8888.

Makers Café: Lady Bug Magnets takes place on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 2-4 p.m. Decorate your refrigerator by building a mini-insect! Supplies are provided.

E.S.O.L. for Beginners is at the Library on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 6:30-8 p.m. This program allows beginners to become more familiar with the English language.

All Library programs are free and open to the public.

Osceola County will hold an event close by where you can explore a wide-range of information, services and opportunities offered in your neighborhood. This free event is open to all Osceola County residents on Thursday, Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Good Samaritan Society Community Center (4197 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Kissimmee.)
