ST. CLOUD NEWS — Public invited to city Development, Building department meetings

The City of St. Cloud’s Community Development Department will hold a workshop on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m. on the first floor at City Hall. The Community Development department will present information on the City’s draft comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Element update. The City’s consultant will make a brief presentation at 6 p.m. and City staff will be available to answer questions.

The City will also hold a Building Department Stakeholder meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. This quarterly event is for residents, homeowners and contractors to share information and receive feedback. Participants can learn about permit reviews, processing and building inspections.

Here’s some Back to School events before those doors swing open on Monday:

St. Cloud Community Church’s Back 2 School Bash is on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1717 13th St. This event is for all students, teachers, administrators and support staff. This fun day includes splash pad, water slides and Kona Ice.

Hopkins Heroes Back to School Bash will be on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hopkins Park, 620 E. 17th St. It will feature free food, free haircuts, music and free book bags and supplies (child must be present to receive book bag and supplies but not for uniform swap). There will also be a uniform swap-bring in gently used uniforms and swap it out for a different size.

There is still time to donate (through Thursday, Aug. 8) gently used school items such as polos (any color), bottoms (tan, blue, black, jean) jackets/sweaters (no pullovers), shoes, bookbags and school supplies for all ages.

Bubble Pops (4533 Old Canoe Creek Road) presents a Back-To-School Bash with Bingo, trivia and Karaoke on Saturday. Aug. 10 from 7-9 p.m. Bubble Pops is a pop culture theme venue with Boba cocktails, Asian street food and entertainment.

Try some Back-To-School Yoga! UFUOMA, (Uniquely Fortifying the Underrepresented while Optimizing Minority Areas) will host its first ever yoga event with certified yoga instructor Lesline Pittman of leslinedoeswellness, LLC at the St. Cloud Library on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, email ufuomainc@gmail.com.
