Osceola History celebrating 75 years with Fall Kick-Off

This year, Osceola History will celebrate 75 years of keeping Osceola County history alive.

While Osceola History will mention its fun events happening during the month of October, from daily offerings, a special 75th anniversary scavenger hunt and games for all ages, the Free Fall Kick Off event will start the fun on Oct. 5.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum (4155 W. Vine St, Kissimmee 34741), families and kids can participate in fun activities exploring how the pioneers lived, a movie showing the history of Florida, and enjoy food and beverages. Special guest Swish, from the Osceola Magic, will be a part of the celebration.

This event will coincide with the center’s newlyopening exhibit, “Picture This!”, showcasing the history and development of the photography industry.

Those who wish to support Osceola History with a donation can be recognized for giving “$75 for 75 years”; those who participate will be recognized on a plaque on a wreath on display in the museum. These contributions help Osceola History carry out the mission and work to keep local history alive.

Osceola History was established to collect and preserve the history of Osceola County in 1949. Since that time, the Society has amassed a collection of thousands of artifacts, photos, newspapers and more on file with research available online at www. osceolahistory.org.

Additionally, the history has been shared via educational and recreational opportunities at the Pioneer Village and Welcome Center & History Museum for teachers and students, as well as the public at both museums open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission at the Pioneer Village is $8 for adults and $4 for youth, with free admission at the Welcome Center & History Museum.
