Here’s some Back to School events this upcoming week
Have school supplies to donate? Need supplies—or just an excuse to have one last celebration before the school bell rings?
Here’s a list of “Back to School” themed events around our area:
Friday, Aug. 2
Join the Early Learning Coalition of Osceola County at its Back-To-School Bash with Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington , from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poinciana Library (101 N. Doverplum Ave.) The backpack will be filled with school supplies from the Commissioner’s office.
Aug. 2 is also the final day to drop off donations of book bags and new school supplies for local students at HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital (325 Cypress Pkwy.) in the main lobby.
Saturday, Aug. 3
The 6th Annual Hero for Kids Back2School Celebration takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Staples, 4058 13th St. Register your Osceola County elementary or middle school child to receive a backpack. The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) celebrates the new school year with its Back-To-School Bash from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Lawn (445 Marigold Ave.) This free event is open to students in grades K-12. Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. The Bash will also have a DJ dance party, games, craft station, vendors and food trucks. The PCLC Bookmobile will also be at the event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. RSVP to this event at https://tinyurl. com/2z358fnx. (Registration does not secure a backpack, it provides APV with a count of how many people will be attending this event).
Saturday, Aug. 10
St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church of Narcoossee (5175 Jones Road.) will hold its Back to School Bash on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 3-6 p.m. Enjoy free food, free school supplies, free backpacks (while supplies last), free haircuts and bounce houses.
St. Cloud Community Church’s Back 2 School Bash is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1717 13th St. This event is for all students, teachers, administrators and support staff. The fun day includes splash pad, water slides and Kona Ice.
Hopkins Heroes Back to School Bash will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hopkins Park, 620 E. 17th St. The Back to School Bash will feature free food, free haircuts, music and free book bags and supplies (child must be present to receive book bag and supplies but not for uniform swap). There will also be a uniform swap; bring in gently used uniforms and swap it out for a different size. This event is open to all St. Cloud school students, K-8 (must show proof of address). Sunday, Aug. 11
Iglesia Casa de Victoria (601 Walnut St. in Poinciana) will hold a Back-To-School Bash on at 3 p.m. Sponsored by Soni Family Practices, PLLC and Simply Healthcare. This event will feature food, music and books and school bags. Registration is required for the event at https://bit.ly/3A4ebis.
