Brownie Wise not the place for county's Pulse tribute
Dear Editor:
This Pulse nightclub monstrosity that Commissioner Cheryl Grieb is pushing should be placed in her front yard, where she can see it everyday and be reminded of the tragic event that took place in Orange County, not Osceola County.
I hope (the county) did an environmental study to see the impact that a 49-foot statue will have to the eagles that are nesting in Brownie Wise Park right now. The eagles, and the cranes that walk with their babies, have been there for years. I ride my bike in this park every day and have to be careful that I don’t hit one of them as they walk across the road.
This land was donated for a conservation area. That’s what the sign says, not to put a 49-foot lit monstrosity up to remind the bikers, joggers, bird watchers and everyone else that uses this park for what it was intended, of that tragedy on a daily basis.
Why do we need another attraction in this county? I have contacted the Governor’s office to inform him that Osceola County doesn’t need any government money if it has this kind of money to waste on this tribute to death. The citizens of Osceola County did not vote for this. All of these commissioners should be voted out of office.
