ST. CLOUD NEWS — Celebrate Trail Trot to downtown Saturday — make a day of it

Celebrate the grand opening of the Florida Avenue Trail with a Trail Trot and ribbon cutting on Saturday, June 15, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Check in at Florida Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard. Participants can walk, jog, run or cycle along the Trail to the downtown area. You may even get the chance to meet Sammi the sandhill crane. There will be water stops as well as plenty of shade. Trail Trot participants will receive an event t-shirt.

There will be a brief ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at Florida Avenue and 9th Street with swag bags.

After the ribbon cutting, visit the Downtown Farmers Market near City Hall for locally made products, produce, baked goods, coffee, plants and more.

 

Hopkins Heroes presents their inaugural Father’s Day BBQ on Saturday, June 15 from 1-3 p.m. Join in to celebrate the Fathers in our lives. There will be food, music, games and raffles. Tickets are $12 and include your choice of meat, two sides, dessert and drinks. One child free for paying adult will receive two slices of pizza, a drink and ticket for either cotton candy or snow cone. This is a fundraiser to help continue and build community projects. Beat the heat at the St. Cloud Library. CampiREAD presents Mister Keith’s “Friendship Factory” Magic Show on Thursday, June 13 from 6-7 p.m. Smile and laugh with this full of audience participation show.

Grab your machine and get to Sewing in the Cloud on Friday, June 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Join other sewing enthusiasts and create beautiful projects. Also Friday, E.S.O.L. Conversation Hour takes place from 10-11:30 a.m. This is an opportunity to become more familiar with the English language.

Tiny Art Show Painting Event will be Monday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Create a nature inspired masterpiece for the upcoming Tiny Art Show Display. This event is for participants who are registered. To register, call (407) 892-6910.

Wings With a Cop, presented by St. Cloud Police Department, takes place at Canoe Creek Sports Tavern on Tuesday, June 18 from 5-6:30 p.m. Grab a bite to eat and chat with an officer.

 

The City of St. Cloud presents a free Juneteenth Movie in the Park — Space Jam — on Wednesday, June 19, beginning at sunset, at Hopkins Park (620 E. 17th St.). Bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

 

Are you ready to battle – or just to eat? Food Truck Wars St. Cloud takes place on Saturday, June 22 from 12-6 p.m. at Centennial Park (1214 10th St.) There will be 30 food trucks, executive judges lead by Chef Jay Judy (head chef at Rosen Hotels), beer garden, Florida Honey, live music and a kid’s zone. This event is free, with free parking.
