Good weather news: Punxsutawney Phil sees NO shadow

Our weather may have been un-Florida-like cool and damp of late, and Sunday's weather is expected to be wet, with cooler temperatures for the first part of next week, but according to a traditional weather soothsayer, that make change.

Friday morning, on Groundhog Day from Gobblers Knob in Punxsutawney, Pa., the great groundhog Punxsutawney Phil did not se his shadow, according to his handlers, which predicts an early start to spring.

"Glad tidings are on this Groundhog Day, an Early spring is on the way!" those caller from the stage announced Friday just after 7 a.m., where it was 36 degrees, in front of a crowd of thousands in the tiny western Pennsylvania town.

That breaks a string of four years of seeing his shadow, which foretells six additional weeks of winter.
