A Poinciana woman has been sentenced for her role in causing a 2022 death at the hands of deadly fentanyl.
This week, a U.S. District Judge sentenced Anna Parsons, to 15 years in federal prison for fentanyl distribution and possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl. Parsons had pleaded guilty on Aug. 29 According to Middle District court documents, early on March 15, Parsons distributed fentanyl to two people at a homeless encampment; one became unresponsive after using the fentanyl. Parsons reportedly attempted to get Narcan but did not call 911 until approximately nine hours later when the victim stopped breathing; the Medical Examiner’s Office later concluded the victim had died from fentanyl toxicity. When Parsons and the other individual called 911, they initially lied to police and the Drug Enforcement Administration about the circumstances of the death.
The DEA searched Parsons’ apartment and phone to find that she had been distributing fentanyl and that she possessed 158 grams of fentanyl, worth approximately $15,800 at the prices she was charging, at her apartment.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with assistance from the Osceola County Sheriff ’s Office.
Prior robbery felon sentenced for possessing firearms
A Kissimmee man will go to federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon after prior robbery counts.
A U.S. District Judge has sentenced Cristian Burgos, 25, to seven years in federal prison. The court also ordered Burgos to forfeit a Glock firearm, an Anderson Manufacturing firearm and associated ammunition, which are traceable to the offense.
According to court documents, on Jan. 29, officers from the Orlando Police Department located a vehicle that had been carjacked. They conducted a stop of the vehicle and the driver, Burgos, fled on foot. When officers apprehended him, they recovered a Glock firearm, an Anderson Manufacturing rifle, and ammunition from inside the vehicle. Laboratory testing of the rifle identified it as having been used to commit two shootings in Orlando in October 2022.
Burgos had previously been convicted in Florida of four counts of robbery with a firearm. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law. Burgos is also facing six counts of attempted murder and two counts of shooting into a building related to two shootings that occurred in October 2022.
Man who caused, fled 2022 Harmony crash sentenced
The man who caused a fatal crash outside of Harmony High School then fled last year has received a harsh prison sentence.
Florida Highway Patrol reported this week that Rolando Buron-Gutierrez was sentenced to a total of 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and one count of leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury.
According to an FHP crash report, on the afternoon of June 5, 2022, Buron-Gutierrez was driving a Ford Expedition westbound on U.S. Highway 192 approaching Arthur J. Gallagher Boulevard. The driver of a Toyota Corolla was stopped for traffic, facing west on U.S. Highway 192, just before the intersection. The Expedition driver, later identified as Buron-Gutierrez, failed to stop, collided with the rear of the Corolla, then fled the scene on foot.
Two passengers in the Corolla, a 39-year-old female and 1-year-old male, both from Kissimmee, eventually passed away from their injuries at separate hospitals.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office assisted FHP by locating the driver, Buron-Gutierrez, and booked him into the Osceola County Jail on the night of the crash.
FHP reminds all drivers that leaving the scene of a crash that results in property damage, injury, or death is against the law. After a crash, make sure everyone is okay, remain calm, move vehicles off the roadway if possible, gather license, insurance and tag information (take photos of what you can’t write down) and, most importantly, always stay at the scene. Leaving the scene of a crash will only make matters worse.
