A 47-year-old Kissimmee man was killed Monday morning in Poinciana, after experiencing what Florida Highway Patrol called a “medical episode” while driving and struck a tree.
The incident occurred just after 8 a.m. near Marigold Avenue at Stepping Stone Boulevard. The man was driving Chrysler Crown Victoria east on Stepping Stone, and the car veered off the roadway and struck a tree in the median.
In the crash report, FHP said the man was ejected from the vehicle, and as the car rotated counter-clockwise after impact, it struck him again. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
Two passengers, a 36-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy, also of Kissimmee, were taken to HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
FHP noted that none of the car’s occupants were wearing a seat belt or in a child restraint, and the crash remains under investigation.
