The west side of Kissimmee is expected to be flush with military personnel and their families this weekend, as Westgate Resorts will honor 1,000 U.S. military, veterans and Gold Star families from across the nation at the Town Center Resort Dec. 1-3 for its 12th annual Military Weekend.
Families from across the country and all service branches receive a weekend of resort accommodations and complimentary activities, including a special evening event Saturday honoring the country’s heroes.
The family-friendly event features a Friday night resource fair, a patriotic 5K run Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m., a family field day into the afternoon, a military vehicle parade at 3 p.m. and an outdoor concert with acts July Moon and Lee Greenwood scheduled for 6:15 p.m. The weekend will end with a fireworks display to honor the troops (so heads up if you live or stay near Westside Boulevard or Old Lake Wilson Road!).
