LETTER TO THE EDITOR -- Special interests at it again

Dear Editor:

We’re asking the Republican Party of Florida to stay out of Osceola County elections. Thousands of dollars have been donated to the Erika Booth campaign fund by the Florida House Republican Campaign Committee for the state House of Representatives seat vacated by Fred Hawkins. This is a demonstration of outright bias and a clear violation of its own “Party rules of Procedure.”

The local powers that be chose their candidate who, after questioning many people in Republican conservative groups here in Osceola County, is Scotty Moore. ‘We the people’ are tired of special interest groups interfering in our elections by pumping money into our county for their candidate.

In addition to being in violation of RPOF rules, it is inherently unfair as it disenfranchises the other candidates from being on an equal footing. Moreover, it tarnishes the image of the Republican Party, as it’s not supposed to be taking sides and picking winners or losers. This should be absolutely a decision left up to the Republican voters of district 35.

My question to RPOF Chairman Christian Ziegler is: Should it not be we who decide who we want to represent us? I’m genuinely looking forward to hearing your perspective on what we, the Republican voters and the other Republican candidates of district 35 consider to be a matter of utmost importance.
