Woman arrested in West 192 hotel shooting

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office reports it has made an arrest in a shooting from last week.

Ruby Sky Ortiz, 23, was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during a commission of a felony, improper display of a firearm and discharging a firearm in public. The charges also include failing to appear in court for not having a Driver's License in a crime in another case. She is held in Osceola County Corrections on no bond.

According to police, Ortiz, who had a St. Cloud address in the prior license issue, was arrested for her involvement in an Aug. 4 incident at the Knights Inn at 4651 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, where responders found a victim who had been shot multiple times. The victim was immediately transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The News-Gazette has requested a copy of the arrest affidavit and will provide an update when we see it. Ortiz has a number of prior Osceola County felony arrests, for things like aggravated battery, drug possession burglary over the last three years, but the State of Florida did not carry out the charges or file the cases in any of them.
