Kissimmee man killed in head-on collision at John Young and Pleasant Hill early Tuesday

Unrelated crash near Toho High snarled Boggy Creek traffic

A 56-year-old Kissimmee man was killed in the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday when another driver veered into his oncoming lane at John Young Parkway and Pleasant Hill Road, Florida Highway Patrol reported.

According to their investigation, just before 5:30 a.m. at 21-year-old man was driving his BMW SUV south on Pleasant Hill, and for unknown reasons during the investigation, crossed the median and veered into northbound lanes into the path of a Chevrolet Aveo, striking it head on. It then was redirected and collided into a Toyota Camry; its driver and passenger from Orlando were not injured.

The other two drivers were transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where the 56-year-old was pronounced deceased and the 21-year-old was in serious condition, as of FHP's last update. The crash, which forced Pleasant Hill traffic in both directions to pass through shopping plazas to slowly get through, remains under investigation.

This crash affected school arrival at Poinciana High School; an unrelated rollover crash near the same time on Boggy Creek Road near Lake Avenue affected arrival at Tohopekaliga High School Tuesday morning as well.
