Waterworks go hand in hand with fireworks this month, as REALTORS® across Florida took part in the Florida Realtors®’ Clean Up Florida’s Waters project throughout July. The statewide push encourages REALTORS® and residents to join forces to pick up trash and clean the state’s lakes, rivers, streams, retention ponds, bays, Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean.
“Florida is known for its beautiful beaches and outstanding waterways – what better way to celebrate this July than to help make our waters clean for everyone to enjoy,” 2023 Florida Realtors® President G. Mike McGraw said. “Our waterways are one of the major reasons so many people love to live in – and visit – the Sunshine State. We encourage everyone who loves Florida’s waters to join Florida Realtors’ statewide effort to keep them clean and beautiful.”
The REALTORS® Care Committee partnered with the City of Kissimmee and the City of St. Cloud to select areas of the county that would benefit the most from the Association’s clean-up effort. The volunteer teams were divided between three locations in Osceola County. At the end of the project, the Association’s volunteers collected 390 pounds of trash.
The purpose of the REALTORS® Care Committee is to seek, develop and promote opportunities for the Osceola County Association of REALTORS® (OSCAR) and its’ members to be engaged in the community.
“(Wednesday’s) record-breaking heat in Osceola County was no match for the members of the Osceola County Association of REALTORS® and their commitment to keeping the local waterways clean so we can protect and preserve it for future generations. Healthy communities need healthy lakes, and it’s encouraging to see so many people across the state pitching in to protect their waterways,” said 2023 Osceola County Association of REALTORS® Board President, Imran Mohamed.
