A two-wheeled testament to downtown St. Cloud dining delights

Saturday morning’s weather was a bit warm and humid – welcome to June, Osceola County – but it still didn’t stop dozens of bike – and food – enthusiasts to load up and come down to St. Cloud for the annual “Bikes & Bites” culinary bicycle tour.

The event showcased the downtown area’s “bikeability” and its small business culinary options. While on about a five-mile route that started and ended at the St. Cloud Lakefront, riders were offered samples from local establishments Granny's Southern Smokehouse, Yuj Granola, 10th Street Produce & Deli, Bone Sack Cider and Beer, ABBAletas, Nutrition Zone, La Fontaine French Macarons LLC, Sweet Spot Snoballs, and Crabby Bill's.

Not even the weather – warm to start and a thunderstorm to chase riders back to their cars – and a wrinkle with some rental bikes could dampen the mood of the day.

“It was a great morning,” said St. Cloud Economic Director Antranette Forbes, who served as Saturday’s event guide throughout the stops. The plan was to go down Pennsylvania (Avenue), but St. Cloud Police Department (who served as a safety escort) helped us plan the route.”
