The Central Florida Expressway Authority has announced additional closures this week associated with the State Road 417 capacity projects affecting roads we use out of Osceola County northward into Orange County. Here's the specifics.
Wednesday night (May 31) into Thursday, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Narcoossee Road under SR 417 will be closed for bridge work. Traffic headed north on Narcoossee should go onto 417 North to Moss Park Road (the next exit) and follow detour signs back to Narcoossee.
Thursday night (June 1), from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Orange Avenue under SR 417 will be closed for bridge work. Northbound drivers will be directed onto Town Center Boulevard, to use either Orange Blossom Trail or Landstar Boulevard, and southbound drivers will be directed onto Wetherbee Road. Also Thursday night into Friday, from midnight to 4 a.m., Northbound SR 417 from Landstar Boulevard to Boggy Creek Road will be closed for sign work. Drivers will be directed to exit at Landstar Boulevard (Exit 14), travel east on East Osceola Parkway and Simpson Road to Boggy Creek Road, and follow the detour signs.
All this work on and around 417 is expected to be finished in 2024 on a stretch of 417 from International Drive to State Road 528, which sees its share of congestion at peak drive times.
