Get lit up like the fireworks? Use AAA's Tow To Go to arrive home safely

Impaired Floridians can call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO for a safe ride

AAA is preparing to rescue more than 393,000 drivers who take to the road this holiday weekend nationwide with car trouble. It will also offer a familiar free service to help keep impaired drivers off the road offer a safe ride for would-be impaired drivers and their vehicles.

The Auto Club Group has activated its Tow to Go program in Florida through the long holiday weekend, up until 6 a.m. on Monday, July 8.

When called upon at (855) 2-TOW-2-GO, The Auto Club Group dispatches a tow truck to transport the driver and vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius for free. Since its inception, used during heavy-travel holiday periods, Tow to Go has kept more than 30,000 impaired drivers from the road. Tow to Go will be active and offering free confidential rides available to AAA members and non-members.

Appointments cannot be scheduled in advance to use Tow to Go, AAA said. It is designed as a safety net for those that did not plan ahead. Always choose a designated driver before your holiday events. In some situations, AAA may need to make other arrangements to get an impaired individual a safe ride home, and it may not be available in rural areas or during severe weather conditions.

“By providing this program, AAA gives drivers no excuse for driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or impairing medications,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Please plan ahead by asking a friend to be your designated driver or use a ride sharing service. If those plans fall through, you can call Tow to Go and AAA will arrange for a safe ride for you.”
