The St. Cloud Police Department and Osceola County Sheriff's Office worked together Thursday afternoon to apprehend and arrest an armed suspect who barricaded themselves in a reportedly stolen vehicle at Oregon Avenue and 17th Street, just south of U.S. Highway 192.
The arrest came after a chase involving the suspect's vehicle and a number of Sheriff's unmarked vehicles and an armored vehicle, eyewitnesses in the area noted around 3 p.m. The suspect was taken into custody, and no injuries were reported.
St. Cloud Middle and High schools and Michigan Avenue Elementary are in the area and were briefly placed on lockdown during the police action, St. Cloud Police said.
