Osceola County announced Tuesday that Osceola Parkway will transition to an All-Electronic Tolling (AET) payment system starting at 5 a.m. on May 1. Toll rates will remain the same for those using collection transponders — $2.50 at the mainline plaza and $1.25 for the Poinciana ramps for 2-axle vehicles.
At that time. cash will no longer be accepted at the Shingle Creek Mainline Toll Plaza and Poinciana Boulevard ramps. All tolls will be collected electronically using transponders like E-PASS and SunPass. Drivers who don’t pay using a toll transponder will be identified by their license plate and billed through the mail — a higher toll charge.
Converting to AET collection increases roadway efficiency and capacity, and assists officials with incident detection, traffic management and communication, said the county, which has installed tolling equipment above the roadway that will collect tolls using a toll transponder or a license plate. Once the system is fully activated, crews will demolish the existing Shingle Creek toll booths the weekend of May 5-8.
