Stolen guns, drugs recovered as part of car burglary investigation and arrest

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says a string of arrests made recently addresses a rash of vehicle burglaries involving thefts of firearms in the Southern and Western areas of Osceola County.

Martin George Sanchez, 18, of Port St. Lucie, Rafael Rejelio Galarza, 19, of Indiantown, Fla., and Michael Garza, 17, less than a month shy of his 18th birthday, have been arrested and charged with armed burglary of a conveyance.

During the course of an investigation which began in early February, agency said it conducted surveillance, and detectives witnessed the suspects burglarizing several vehicles. As part of the investigation, detectives also executed a search warrant to the suspects' hotel room at the Roadway Inn on West U.S. Highway 192. During the execution of the search warrant, detectives found ammunition, illegal narcotics and three stolen firearms, including two reported stolen from Kissimmee and another from Boca Raton, according to the arrest affidavit.

"It should be noted (Sanchez and Galarza) are involved in several armed burglaries throughout the state of Florida. Further charges are forthcoming from multiple agencies throughout Florida," the affidavit stated. They are held in the Osceola County Jail on $6,000 bond.

According to court documents, Garza was on juvenile probation in Osceola County for cases of grand theft and burglary of an occupied dwelling and on a court mandated curfew.
