Here is something fresh to look forward to. The new Southport Farmer’s Market, presented by Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures, will open on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at 2001 E. Southport Road. This Farmer’s Market places emphasis on the offerings of regional growers with a focus on produce that is sustainable. The Farmer’s Market is also an opportunity to explore resources pertaining to alternative food supply chain opportunities.

The Dolores Wright Art Exhibit will be on display at the Poinciana Library (101 N. Doverplum Ave.) from Jan. 20 to March 17. Dolores Wright was born and raised in North Carolina and moved to Florida in 2019. When the Coronavirus pandemic began and activities were restricted, she began doing Diamond Dots to help pass the time. The hobby began to be so much more than the pictures that were displayed and shows her enthusiasm and talent. Wright selects her subjects based on her understanding of what people can relate to. Dolores Wright hopes you enjoy her work and that it makes you smile.
Homeschool Bookworms is a new program at the Library that allows home schoolers to meet new friends and embark on adventures while exploring a different book each month. On Jan. 23 from 2-3 p.m., grades 3-5 will discuss “Getting to Know You” (Icebrakers). Participants will receive “Amari and the Night Brothers” by B.B. Alston to read and discuss next month. On Jan. 30 from 2-3 p.m., grades 6-8 will receive “The Marvellers” by Dhonielle Clayton to read and discuss next month.

This Curriculum Nights are a great opportunity for parents to get involved in the next step in their child’s education.

This elegant black and white semi-formal event will be held at the Poinciana Community Center. The Poinciana Beautiful Awards program is an opportunity to recognize homeowners who have kept their home’s exterior well maintained and cared for throughout the year. One home from each Village has been chosen by a group of independent judges.
The evening will feature live entertainment and dancing. In addition, there will be table served hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, awards and recognitions and door prizes.
