School District incoming sixth, ninth grade orientation nights

In order to help incoming middle and high school students and parents become familiar with their new schools for next year, Osceola County schools will host Student Orientation Nights.

Sixth Grade Orientation Night Jan. 23, 6-7:30 p.m.

In-person at all middle schools and Grade K-8 schools. Students who will move on next year to sixth grade, along with their parents, are invited to attend the Orientation Night at their new middle school to meet their principal, to get an idea of what classes will be offered, make their way around the campus, to learn about the extracurricular sports and club offerings, and more.

Ninth Grade Curriculum Night Jan. 30, 6-7:30 p.m.

In-person at all eight public high schools, and Osceola County School for the Arts. Students going into ninth grade next year, along with their parents, are invited to attend to meet their new principals, to get an idea of what classes will be offered, to make their way around the campuses, to learn about curriculum, clubs, and extracurricular sports offerings, and more. These Orientation and Curriculum Nights will be a great opportunity for parents to get involved in the next step of their child’s education. Parents with questions are encouraged to contact the individual school their child will attend.

2023 Celebration Foundation Scholarship applications Registration is open for Celebration Foundation scholarships to assist local high school students advance their studies.

Several scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors that live in Celebration, graduating seniors who attend Celebration High School, and art scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors at Osceola County School For The Arts.

Successful applicants must demonstrate a high degree of volunteerism, must have strong community/school involvement, and must continue education at an accredited college or university.

Kissimmee’s Burgos honored Kissimmee’s Joe Burgos was named to the University of Saint Mary (Leavenworth, Kan.) Fall 2022 Dean’s List, for ending the semester with a 3.5 GPA or better. The university also offers online programs.
