The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in a domestic assault from last weekend.
Cory Randall Phillipe, 32, was arrested Thursday night in connection to incident, in which police say he struck his father in the head Sunday with a blunt object, then fled from the residence on foot.
Witnesses said Philippe might be heavily armed with firearms and explosives. Osceola deputies were assisted by law enforcement from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, who searched an expansive and thick wooded area where Philippe was seen and known to frequent.
When law enforcement determined Philippe was hiding in a trailer located in the search area ,Osceola County’s SWAT Team members surrounded the trailer. When Phillipe refused multiple verbal commands to come out, reports said the SWAT Team deployed gas into the trailer. He then exited and was apprehended. No one was injured during the incident.
Sheriff Marcos Lopez is noted being "grateful for the brave members of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, and thanks his law enforcement partners for their assistance and support."
