The St. Cloud Police Department shed light on a fight that occurred Thursday at St. Cloud High School between a couple of students and a school resource officer.
SCPD said three students will be charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest without violence.
A SCPD report said a fight broke out between two male students at the school Thursday. As the school resource officer was attempting to break up the fight, a third student, a 15-year-old male, grabbed the officer around the torso. From the ensuing struggle, the two ended up on the ground, with the student continuing to fight and resist, police said.
"With the assistance of bystanders the student was able to be brought under control. He was arrested for battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and resisting arrest with violence before being taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Orlando," the report said, noting neither the officer or the student were injured during the incident.
No other arrests were made at the time, but SCPS said charges including battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and resisting arrest without violence will be filed to the State Attorney’s Office on the two other male students (both aged 14 years) for their part in the incident.
The News-Gazette has requested any police body camera or school security camera footage available from the incident.
