Student arrested with loaded gun in Tohopekaliga High parking lot

A Tohopekaliga High School student was arrested Tuesday morning for having a loaded firearm in their car on campus, per a call sent by school officials.

In a robocall sent to parents at about 10:30 a.m., THS Principal George Arscott said that Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies were on campus to arrest the individual for a charge in an off-campus incident. During the apprehension, a loaded gun was found in the suspect’s car. No threats were made or received by the school, the principal said.

“The student will now face serious consequences in accordance with the School District’s Code of Conduct,” Arscott said in the call.

In the call, Arscott did not note if the school ever went on lockdown Tuesday. Later in the morning, the Osceola County School District confirmed it did not.

Since the robocall went out to parents this morning, the Sheriff's Office has noted that this is an active and ongoing investigation and are not releasing information at this time.
