FHP investigating early Saturday pedestrian vs. car death at Poinciana Parkway at Marigold

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a pedestrian at a Poinciana Parkway onramp early Saturday morning, noting one vehicle struck the victim and continued northbound.

Just after 5:30 a.m., troopers responded to the northbound Marigold Avenue onramp to the Parkway, where two people riding in a Kia Optima said a pedestrian was standing in the roadway, in their direct path. The driver struck the person, and remained on scene. After that initial impact, a witness said they saw another vehicle collide with the victim, now laying in the lane, and that vehicle did not stop, and continued traveling northbound onto Poinciana Parkway. FHP could not get a description of the vehicle, as the witness said it was too dark.

Anyone with information on the second vehicle in this crash is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol (407-737-2213) or Crimeline (800-423-TIPS).

FHP continues to investigate, noting the Medical Examiner's Office said it would update once the victim is positively identified.
