OSCAR ensures local moms a great Mother’s Day
The Osceola County Association of REALTORS® (OSCAR) and its REALTORS® Care committee teamed with Two Men and A Truck during the “Make their Mother Proud” donation drive.
Each year, Two Men and A Truck partners with shelters across the country to collect essential care items for women in need. Two Men and A Truck is a Vital Industry Partners, part of a group of industry professionals who do not sell real estate but assist REALTOR® members grow their business.
The OSCAR committee was able to donate over 100 items for the Movers for Moms donation drive. Members donated diapers, socks, underwear, food, household items, kitchenware, personal hygiene products, pain relief medicine, and gift cards.
“All mothers should feel celebrated, especially on Mother’s Day. Our members want to send a message of hope to our community that even in the hardest of circumstances, it is important to recognize the strength of mothers,” said OSCAR Board of Directors President Alexandra Arena-Gil.

New principals, APs for a handful of Osceola schools
The Osceola County School District approved a pair of school administrative appointments at its May 3 meeting, kicking off a domino effect of changes at the top at a number of county schools.
Dustin Keeton and Laurel Ramsey, currently Dean of Students and Assistant Principal at Liberty High, will become Harmony High School assistant principals.
To fill Ramsey’s role, Steven Louis Jean, currently Assistant Principal at Celebration High School, will move to Liberty High. Justin Seabolt, now an Assistant Principal at NeoCity Academy, will go to Celebration.
In a shuffling of principals, Michael Ballone goes from Horizon Middle to Denn John Middle, Megan Gould moves from Parkway Middle to Horizon, and Misty Cruz shifts from Liberty High to Parkway Middle.
In a trade of sorts, Cheri Knoebel (East Lake Elementary) and Amanda Soto (Ventura Elementary) will swap their Assistant Principal roles.
Gary Dunn, an assistant principal at Discovery Intermediate since 2015, will become the principal. Prior to his time at Discovery he was a teacher and dean at Horizon Middle School.
Program Instructor Opportunity with Kissimmee Parks & Recreation
The City of Kissimmee Parks & Recreation Department is seeking qualified individuals or businesses that are interested in conducting aquatic, athletic, recreational and/or enrichment programs (ex. fine arts, arts & crafts, language, fitness/ health, financial literacy, homeschool, senior programs, etc.) for all ages from Oct. 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2023. Those interested must notify the Recreation & Leisure Services Supervisor no later than Friday, May 20, to receive the proposal requirements.
The Proposal Packets will include a list of all requirements, terms, and conditions. Packets will be available on May 21. College honors for Osceola grads
Upper Iowa University (Fayette, Iowa) has announced its 2022 Honors and Awards program recipients. As one of the honorees to receive a grant, award and/or scholarship, Carter Harris of Saint Cloud, FL, was awarded the Martha M. Moeller Scholarship. Founded in 1857, Upper Iowa University is a private, nonprofit university providing undergraduate and graduate degree programs to about 4,500 students-nationally and internationally-at its Fayette, Iowa, Campus
Deborah McGinley of Kissimmee, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective alldiscipline collegiate honor society, at the University of Florida.
Kenry Atubel, (Interdisciplinary Studies) and Nhu Nguyen, (International Business, Magna Cum Laude) from Kissimmee, earned undergraduate degrees from Minnesota State-Mankato during commencement services Saturday.
Austin Mapile of Kissimmee earned a spot on the Columbia (Mo.) College Dean’s List, with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
