The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has confirmed two deputies were involved -- but not injured -- in a shooting incident Wednesday night at a Target store on West U.S. Highway 192 that left one person dead and another injured by bullet shrapnel.
The store at 4795 W. Irlo Bronson Highway is just east of Vineland Road.
Sheriff Marcos Lopez did not release any more detail than that, as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is taking over the investigation and has had nothing to report as of yet.
The incident occurred before 9 p.m. Witnesses said people were running from the store at 4795 W. U.S. 192, so it is unclear if the shooting took place inside the store. Another witness in the parking lot reported seeing "a bunch of guys with guns and bulletproof vests."
Most of the store's parking lot was cordoned off with crime scene tape as the investigation went into the night.
