Register now for Poinciana baseball, swim classes

Registration is now open for Poinciana Little League Summer Baseball Camp. There are two sessions to choose from – attend one, or both! Session A runs from June 6-11, Session B is July 5-29. Practices are Monday thru Friday from 6-7:30 p.m. for T-ball. All other divisions are 6-9 p.m.

The registration fee for all divisions is $150 per child per session, $25 non-refundable registration fee per session. Age divisions are: T-ball – 4-6 years old; Baseball – 6-8, 9-11 and 12-16.

Highlights of this summer camp includes professional instruction, multi-level ability grouping and daily emphasis on fundamental development including team play. Three official camp t-shirts will be provided to each player.

Payment options are: pay in full, $25 deposit holds your spot and then pay in full or $25 deposit holds your spot with payment plan available. The Every Kid Sports Pass may help the registration fee be more affordable. Eligibility requirements and application details can be found online.

Sharks and Minnows Swim School begins swim classes the week of April 25 at the Mary Jane Aquatic Center (625 Country Club Dr.) Sharks and Minnows School is a learn-to-swim program that offers lessons throughout Florida for beginners and advanced swimmers of all ages. Fit Kidz 4 Fun is a weekly themed summer camp running from May 31 to Aug. 6. Ages for this camp are VPK to 14 years old. Camp days are Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (early drop off and late pickup available). The camp will be held at the Poinciana Community Center/ APV Gymnasium (397 Marigold Ave.). Osceola County Commissioner for District 3 Brandon Arrington, will host a Drive-Thru Springtime Food Distribution on April 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (3880 Pleasant Hill Road). Meal boxes will be distributed to the first 600 families, while supplies last. Food boxes will be distributed one per car in this drive-thru event. This event is co-sponsored by Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

 

Last week, Walmart began its Health Center rollout in Florida. The Poinciana Walmart (904-B Cypress Pkwy.) is one of the first of five new Walmart Health Centers in Florida.

The health center will provide a wide range of basic health care and diagnostic services in partnership with local providers, including primary care, lab tests, X-rays and EKGs, behavioral health and counseling, dental care, and optical and hearing care. The center is operated by physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, behavioral health providers and optometrists. On-site Walmart Care Hosts and Community Health Workers will help customers navigate their visit and learn about available resources. Patients can make appointments, input insurance information and confirm eligibility at walmarthealth.com.
