Florida Highway Patrol has reported that a 47-year-old man died late Thursday night when he was struck on his bicycle crossing Orange Blossom Trail.
According to the FHP report, the Brooksville man was crossing OBT eastbound at Mary Louis Drive, between Gatorland and the Tupperware Brands headquarters. Around 11:20 p.m., a vehicle heading southbound on OBT swerved to miss him, but an 17-year-old driver from Kissimmee struck him. The rider was pronounced dead on the scene by responders.
This incident is still under investigation, the FHP report said.
