Family Bingo & Movie Night re-scheduled to this Saturday

Due to inclement weather last weekend, the Family Bingo & Movie Under the Stars Night has been scheduled to this Saturday (March 19). Bingo will be played at 6 p.m. followed by Movie Under the Stars at 7 p.m. This all happens on the Lawn at 625 Country Club Dr. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Disney’s movie Encanto will be shown. Mirabel Madrigal, a character from the movie, will be a special guest. who will be there from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. for photos.

HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital (formerly Poinciana Medical Center) will be on-site at the event with a Feed a Family Photo Challenge. You can help HCA Florida Healthcare support Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida by taking a photo next to them and tagging HCA Florida Healthcare on social media using #HCAFlorida FeedingFamilies. It is never too late to learn or perfect a skill! Beginner Guitar classes will be held at the Poinciana Library on tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. Bring your own guitar (acoustic preferred) for a beginner’s introduction on tuning, chords, strumming, finger-picking, and how to read tab. This is a 4-week course to stretch your creative muscles and learn something new each week.

NovelTea Book Club will meet Tuesday, March 22, 4:30-5:30 p.m. This month’s selection is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. NovelTea Book Club has a lively book discussion while enjoying teas based on each month’s book selection.

On Thursday, March 24 from 10-11 a.m., adults are invited to attend a Resume Writing Workshop. Learn how to create a well-organized resume. Participates will use Microsoft Word to form a new resume and also get tips on how to update and polish your resume. Bring a flash drive to save your work. If you do not have a resume, bring enough information regarding your work history, education and career goals to begin developing one.

Celebrate 102 years of suffrage on Saturday, March 26 from 1-3 p.m. by attending Rosetta As A Suffragette. Create and wear your own Rosette, an important symbol in women’s fight for equality. Supplies will be provided.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for beginners is held every Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Taught by a certified instructor in partnership with Adult Literacy League, this class teaches how to become more familiar with the English language.

We can’t forget about the Littles! Bedtime story time is tonight at 7 p.m. This pre-school to age 5 event invites children to come to the Library in their pajamas, listen to stories and sing songs before it is time to say good night.

The School District of Osceola County’s READ Bus is the Poinciana Library every Monday from 9:15 a.m. to noon. This renovated school bus with an interior that resembles a mini-Pre-K classroom is equipped with resources to engage parents of pre-school aged children in activities to develop early literacy skills.
