Expect ant-Trump administration protests today (Saturday) in Osceola County, along with the rest of the country, as tensions remain high with the unrest in Los Angeles over the White House's immigration policies.
The "No Kings" protests were originally planned to coincide with Trump's 79th birthday, Flag Day and a 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army in Washington, D.C., and set before the events in L.A.
Locally, they are scheduled to occur at:
Poinciana protest (event page)
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Cypress Parkway near Solivita front entrance
Kissimmee (event page)
3-6 p.m. at Kissimmee Trail Bridge (John Young Parkway north of Columbia Ave.)
Previous protests to denounce Trump, like one in April outside the Kissimmee Tesla dealership, also centered on billionaire adviser Elon Musk, who has left the government's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Protesters, who deem his actions to be less of a presidency and more of a monarch, are calling for Trump to be "dethroned".
While violence is not expected, organizers and law enforcement are asking protesters to stay on sidewalks, public spaces or easements, follow road rules on highways, intersections and crosswalks, not to obstruct traffic of block vehicles and report any dangerous drivers to 9-1-1.
"We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events," the group says on the website.
There will be no protest in Washington, the group 505051 ("50 states, 50 protests, one movement") said on its website (nokings.org), saying power "rises up everywhere else."
"On June 14th, we’re showing up everywhere he isn’t—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings," the web message read."
