Registration for 2021 Python Challenge starts today

Want to hunt Burmese pythons in the Everglades this summer? Registration for the 2021 Python Challenge opened Thursday. The competition takes place from July 9-18. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is looking for a hearty men and women who can take the heat and take down the deadly, exotic snakes that are increasingly harming the Everglades, the headwaters for which start here in Kissimmee. Problems began when Burmese python owners started releasing their unwanted pets into Everglades National Park. The monster snakes are literally choking the life out of many species and wrecking havoc on one Florida’s most precious natural resources.
